Space System / loral

Space Systems/Loral (‘SS/L’) will be on campus for Co-op and Full Time recruiting from Feb 22nd – Feb 24th. They are looking for motivated, creative engineers in the following fields: electrical & RF, mechanical, computer science, systems, materials, civil. They are based in Palo Alto, CA and are the leading commercial satellite provider. SS/L is a fun place to work with unique growth opportunities for co-ops and new grads:

Some words from Jonathan Cook, Senior Manufacturing Engineer of SS/L, ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ):
We do it all: We build the largest, most capable commercial satellites in the world. With design, manufacturing, testing, and mission control all in the same facility, SS/L provides unique opportunities for collaboration, hands-on learning, and continuous improvement.

Interesting Challenges: High-reliability is an understatement at SS/L – Our satellites have to operate maintenance-free in the extreme environment of space for 15 years, challenging all of us to explore novel technologies and be creative!

Fast-paced: It takes us 2-3 years to build a satellite, and we have up to 20 at a time in production. In an industry where satellites often take 10-15 years to build, SS/L is a clear leader with the fastest time to market.

Inter-disciplinary teams: Apply and develop your skills while learning about other engineering disciplines… systems engineering, advanced composite structures, antenna design, flight software, signal processing, solar arrays, energy storage, orbital dynamics, and the list goes on.

Varied: Each of our space systems is highly customized for its specific commercial, government, or internal customer. This creates new design challenges, and along with getting to work on several different projects at a time, keeps things fun and interesting.

Big Red: You’ll find a vibrant community of Cornell alums at SS/L and in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Global Impact: Our satellites and space systems provide essential services to billions of people – communications, entertainment, mobile internet, weather, space exploration, and search and rescue, to name a few.

Think a career at SS/L sounds exciting? Stop by and share your thoughts… Full-time & Co-op info session: Thurs, Feb 23rd @ 5pm in Upson LoungeCo-Op reception: Wed, Feb 22nd @ 6pm in the Statler BallroomSubmit your resume: http://www.career.cornell.edu/CCNet.htmlMore info: http://www.ssloral.com/html/careers/college.html
