The Hunt is On!

February 27th, 2007 by admin -->

As promised, we’ve made the list available on our website as a PDF today at noon, so you can get it at http://ieee.ece.cornell.edu/files/scavenger_hunt07.pdf. We don’t have the Excel checkoff sheet that we also promised, but we’ll post that before the end of the week as we’re also betting you’re not going to be needing it immediately today.

As always, make sure you read the rules and know what’s required for the photos. Also as we mentioned before, we’re going to prefer to post updates to http://ieee.ece.cornell.edu/news (this site here!).

That’s it from us, and have fun with the scavenger hunt!

IEEE Photo Scavenger Hunt

February 20th, 2007 by admin -->

We’re pleased to announce the IEEE Scavenger Hunt! Starting next Tuesday at noon, all majors are invited to participate in the hunt for various items, some obscure and some…not. This year we’ve also added a tie-in to our IEEE News blog at http://ieee.ece.cornell.edu/news. Important updates and rule changes will be posted there and you will be responsible for keeping track of them, though we’ve done our best to think of important rules ahead of time.

With that note, onto the hunt!

UPDATE (Feb 20): We have rescheduled the Scavenger Hunt for next week due to scheduling issues. There’s now plenty of time to sign up!

Welcome!

February 11th, 2007 by admin -->

Welcome to the first posting on the new Cornell IEEE News weblog! This is where we plan on posting the latest events and happenings within IEEE in addition to the usual outlets, such as IEEE-L. This blog should help as a consolidated source of all the Cornell IEEE news and as a complement to our IEEE-L listserve, in case you happen to miss an email or two from us. The idea is to make it easier for you, our presumably interested audience, to keep track of IEEE and maybe even get involved!

Why a weblog? The format of announcements and news entries is perfect for a weblog style. Plus, seeing as how the IEEE audience is generally tech savvy, using a weblog means that all our posts are also available in RSS feeds, which you can add to your favorite RSS reader. Firefox, Internet Explorer 7, Safari, and Google Reader all support RSS.

Thanks for looking in on the latest piece of the website redesign. Feel free to send any feedback to awr8.
